• Is Rema a Wizkid or Better?
• Rema To Perform At Something In The Water Festival Virginia.
• Rema Releases New Single “Beamer”, When Do We Expect An Album?
Something In The Water festival rolled out its lineup of performing acts back in December 2019 for its 2020 edition which is scheduled to hold in April this year.
Rema who just dropped a new single Beamer with Jamaica’s Rvssian and the remix to his smash Dumebi with Becky G is on the long list of artists scheduled to perform at the music festival in Virginia Beach, Virginia, U.S.A. (Photo: SITW)
It looks like a whole lot of things are shaking up for the youngster under the Mavin camp. Having introduced to us his trap side with records like Why, Spaceship Jocelyn and his Freestyle EP, it is obvious why he is an instant delight for the Westerners and pride to us for his delivery on Corny, Lady, and Ironman.
What’s interesting is that he hasn’t mentioned this gig on any of his social media accounts just like he didn’t notify us earlier about his guest appearance at the NBA All-star Weekend in Chicago over the past weekend. (Photo: NBA)
One would think that his deafening silence on these engagements downplays the magnitude of the achievement but on second thought, it only goes to show how focused he is on making his next move bigger than the previous.
I only found out about the shortlist for Something Under The Water as I scrolled through the Instagram page of Pop smoke following his tragic passing.
With the launch of his new Vlog series Rema’s Realm, his young and energetic fans can have a deeper bond with their idol with subsequent episodes.
In his short time on the block, he’s appeared on radio shows like BBC’s 1Xtra and Apple music.
He has performed in over 5 African countries including Ghana, Abidjan, Uganda, and Kenya. And multiple times in the US in Ohio, Chicago, New York, Houston, D.C, Boston, Atlanta, Oakland, L.A, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Cyprus, London.
He’s also covered for prints like Fader and as a guest on music knowledge storehouse Genius where he also got a cosign from Akon.
With his first single to start off the year, following his demean, a project is in the works and this time, we are hopeful for a full album.
Surprisingly, in less than a year since his activation as he prefers to call it, his superb versatility has matched his management team’s promotion skill to debut his rise on the global map.
And Rema has openly declared his admiration and indebtedness to Don Jazzy and D’Prince who discovered him in Edo State, Nigeria.
To be fair, his charm, finesse and charisma can be likened only to that of Wizkid’. Although he is still young in the industry, my take is that, with the trajectory and momentum he’s currently striding, when Rema has achieved half of what Wizkid has got, he’d be reckoned a bigger artist in a record shortest time for a Nigerian act.
