Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says there is a chance that Anthony Martial will be available to play in Saturday’s Manchester derby.
Martial was on the sidelines on Wednesday during the win over Mourinho’s Spurs due to a knock he received against Aston Villa. While Paul Pogba has been out since September due to an ankle injury.
Speaking on the French duo’s fitness ahead of the game against Manchester City on Sky Sports, Solskjaer said: “We hope to have Anthony definitely for part of the game. I’m not sure if he’s able to start. Pogba probably won’t be, no.”
While the derby will be too early for Pogba, the midfielder has resumed training and asked when he is expected to return, Solskjaer said: “As soon as possible, as quickly as possible.
“He’s out on the grass training. I said in 2019 so hopefully we’ll see him before the New Year definitely.”
Saturday’s Manchester derby will mark Solskjaer’s fit’s the visit to the Etihad since replacing Mourinho’s who was sacked in December last year.
Solskjaer and his players will be looking to extend United’s good form at the Etihad as they have lost on just one of their last four visits.
He lost the first derby he was in charge against City at Old Trafford in April but will be hoping for a reversal of fortune when they travel to the Eastlands to take on Guardiola’s side.
