The African Giant, Burna Boy has just released his year-end review for the year 2019. And it’s simply amazing to see how much impact the Port Harcourt born Afro-fusion artiste has made in the span of 2 years since the release of his 2018 album ‘Outside’.
Many would argue that Burna achieved all he did last year through the successful release of his Grammy-nominated album ‘African Giant’, but a more logical argument would be an in-depth look at the spring board from which this momentum was built.Prior to the release of the Outside album, Burna Boy had taken good time to reevaluate his artistry.
He dismantled his management and set up a new one, reinvented his craft and gave a new direction to his art. ‘Outside’ became the unveiling of his rebirth. And the rage-response from listeners spurned him into embodying the African Giant.
In the past year, Burna with only one album has become the first African artiste on Spotify to hit 13M+ monthly streams. With numbers from other streaming platforms like audiomack, boomplay, and apple music to make up his 600M+ streams in 2019.
With over 200 performances across cities with 50 sold out concerts, he won the Best African Act at the 2019 MTV Europe Music Awards and Best International Act at the 2019 BET Awards.
Burna Boy also had guest appearances on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
